Summary
This project involved a major power infrastructure upgrade at the (GLTZ) – GERALDTON Telephone Exchange to support future load growth. The works included a new transformer compound, Western Power HV supply upgrades, new switchboards, mains and sub-mains cabling, and associated electrical infrastructure upgrades to increase site capacity and reliability. The following upgrades were carried out:
- Upgrade of incoming power supply and HV infrastructure.
- Construction of a new fire-rated transformer compound.
- Installation of a new Multiple Master Meter Switchboard (SMSB).
- Installation of a new Main Distribution Board (MDB).
- Upgrade of mains and sub-mains cabling.
- Testing, commissioning, and alarm integration.
Scope of Work
- Civil & Construction: Excavation, trenching, duct installation, transformer compound construction, demolition of redundant infrastructure, and reinstatement works.
- Electrical Infrastructure: Installation of new SMSB, MDB, mains and sub-mains cabling, cable ladders, and transformer connections.
- Power Authority Upgrades: Coordination with Western Power for transformer installation, HV cabling, and supply upgrades.
- Temporary Power: Supply and operation of a temporary generator during changeover works.
- Testing & Commissioning: Electrical testing, AMS alarm recommissioning, fire stopping, and final commissioning.
- Logistics & Documentation: Freight, craneage, travel, O&M manuals, and as-built documentation
