Self-sufficient power for remote operations.

Self-sufficient standalone power systems built for the conditions of regional and remote Australia. Designed, installed, and maintained in-house by DCE.

DCE's off-grid solar hybrid capability has evolved over many years of delivering exactly this kind of system.

The design approach integrates solar, battery storage, and diesel backup as a coherent whole – sized for the load, built for the environment, and designed to keep working without requiring frequent on-site maintenance.

The in-house logistics fleet means DCE can get to the site with everything it needs, including the screw pile rigs that often replace concrete foundations in remote settings.

When the grid is not an option.

A significant portion of the infrastructure DCE works on sits in locations where connection to the electricity grid is not practical or not economic. Remote telco sites, mine-site facilities, regional utilities infrastructure, rural community power systems - all of them need power that works reliably and can be maintained by a team that can actually reach the site.

What is included in our off-grid solar hybrid scope

Solar PV Systems

Modular solar array design and installation, sized for the remote load requirement and optimised for the site's solar resource.

A spacious room filled with multiple large solar batteries arranged neatly for a hybrid energy system

Battery Storage

Battery energy storage systems integrated for overnight and peak-demand supply, with appropriate redundancy for the application.

Off grid power systems with a green diesel generator supporting reliable backup power during periods of low solar generation

Diesel Generation

Hybrid diesel backup for periods of low solar generation integrated into the full system design and managed to minimise fuel consumption.

Power distribution units managing electrical supply for machinery and equipment, designed, installed and commissioned by DCE

Distribution and Metering

Full electrical distribution from source to load, designed, installed, and commissioned by DCE.

Remote power systems monitored across three computer screens on a desk, supporting real-time data analysis and operational management

Remote Monitoring

System performance monitoring and remote management capability, reducing the need for frequent site visits.

The challenge

Multiple off-grid solar hybrid systems across remote sites in NT and SA. No viable concrete supply within 1,050 km of the primary site, making conventional concrete foundations impractical both logistically and financially.

The DCE solution

Screw pile foundations installed using DCE's own rigs, transported on DCE's own vehicles, with zero external plant hire. Foundation cost reduced by 54%. Programme shortened by four weeks. Delivered in-house, end-to-end.
